The Strength in Crowns Project (Draft)

The Strength in Crowns Project is a passion project focused on creating handmade headwraps, scarves, and headbands for women experiencing hair loss due to medical conditions, stress, or life transitions such as pregnancy and postpartum recovery. This project blends sewing, storytelling, and community engagement to address the emotional impact of hair loss on women’s confidence and identity.
The name “Crowns” represents more than hair. It symbolizes identity, beauty, and self-worth. Through this project, I will design and sew a collection of headwear pieces using high-quality stretch fabrics while creating a digital storytelling experience that highlights the strength of women navigating hair loss. The goal is to provide not just headwear, but a sense of empowerment, dignity, and self-expression.

Hair loss is often treated as something to fix, hide, or correct. However, the emotional experience behind it is rarely acknowledged. Many women silently navigate feelings of insecurity, loss of identity, and lowered confidence.

The Strength in Crowns Project shifts that narrative. Instead of focusing on restoration of hair, it focuses on restoration of confidence. It creates awareness, promotes self-acceptance, and provides a meaningful, wearable solution that allows women to feel seen, valued, and beautiful in their current state.
